| Sumari: | This volume collects the proceedings of the meeting held in September 2021 at the Archaeological Museum of Stabia Libero D'Orsi, organized by the Scuola Superiore Meridionale di Napoli and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. The focus on the ancient city of Stabiae combines the evidence found on the tufa ridge of Varano with what is preserved in the modern city of Castellammare, the ancient city's port that survived the Plinian eruption. Two different Institutions protect the area: the Archaeological Park of Pompeii is in charge of the ancient villas and the Museum at the Quisisana Royal Palace, while the Superintendence for the Metropolitan Area of Naples takes care of the archaeological evidence of the territory. The seminar sought to unite these two perspectives and it was focused on creating a common space for researchers working in the area, in order to share data and hypotheses and discuss the field activities and the project of a new archaeological park, that must find in the Archaeological Museum of Stabia a narrative hub. |
