A educação de gênero nas escolas do movimento, combinada com lutas travadas especialmente pelas mulheres nas assembleias, nas cooperativas e associações, nos assentamentos, além da participação igualitária nas decisões estratégicas do movimento têm contribuído a construção de novas relações sociais e de gênero. O patriarcalismo é anterior ao modo de produção capitalista, mas certamente o capitalismo aprofundou as diferenças entre homens e mulheres, entre povos e etnias, e já está cientificamente provado que é impossível alcançar a igualdade substantiva entre seres humanos dentro dos marcos deste modo de produção bárbaro e mesquinho. As mulheres de todas as partes da América Latina estão travando uma luta ferrenha contra todas as formas de opressão que – quem sabe – poderão desembocar numa sociedade para além do capital.
