Published Die rasanten Entwicklungen im Bereich der Human- und Fortpflanzungsmedizin haben unsere traditionellen Vorstellungen bezüglich des Entstehens des menschlichen Lebens, der Schwangerschaft und Mutterschaft radikal verändert und sie erregen zunehmend Aufmerksamkeit. Aufgrund der Entwicklungen neuer Methoden in der Reproduktionsmedizin und der durch sie ermöglichten stetig zunehmenden Zugriffsmöglichkeiten in das vorgeburtliche Leben ist die Suche nach einer Antwort auf die Frage nach dem Lebensbeginn wichtiger geworden, um markieren zu können, ab wann der Embryo in vitro rechtlichen Schutz genießt und, damit verbunden, um die Zulässigkeit von Eingriffen an menschlichen Embryonen bestimmen zu können.
