Zusammenfassung:Gregorio López de Tovar (1547-1636) was, besides being a prosecutor, oidor and counselor of Orders, the architect of a repertoire of laws and glosses destined to accompany the successful official edition that in 1555 his grandfather, Gregorio López de Valenzuela (1490-1560), had prepared of the Partidas. The memoirs in which, throughout most of his life, he recorded these and other public and private events, remained unpublished as a whole until now. Beyond the editorial history of this code, to which they have contributed, their possibilities remained untapped for knowledge of the mechanics of access and promotion within the judicial machinery or of the social customs of his privileged estate, among other inquisitive aspects.
