| Sumario: | This volume contains a collection of short essays on Luigi Vanvitelli’s contribution to Neapolitan architecture in the second half of the 18th century; the authors are all scholars – researchers, doctoral and post-doctoral students – who trained at the Dipartimento di Architettura of the Università di Napoli Federico II. The conclusion of the two hundred and fifty year anniversary of Luigi Vanvitelli’s death practically coincided with an highly significant event for this university: the eight hundred years anniversary of the foundation of the Neapolitan Studio. This coincidenceprompted this volume to promote the figure of the artist to a wide public and the role of the Neapolitan university in the fruition and enhancement of the city’s and the metropolitan city’s landmark monuments. |
