description The volum presents a theoretical and operational reflection on the theme of social innovation starting from the results of the evaluation of the experimentation Abitare Inclusivo promoted by Friuli Venezia Giulia Region to contrast institutionalization of the elderly and innovate the regional system of services for not self-sufficient older people through an innovative model of home care service based on personalization, co-production and the personal budget. Social innovation is a crucial issue in politics, technology, and science. On the one hand new, quickly changing needs of the population require innovative solutions that can provide responses that are more effective and long-lasting. On the other hand, to assess and apply many of the advanced answers, we must comprehend what makes them innovative. Through the process of data analysis and conducting interviews with the participants, the evaluation of Abitare Inclusivo has shown the elements that have at the same time contributed and prevented the innovation process, as well as the outcomes that it has produced. The volume read these aspects in the context of the main contributions of the ongoing theoretical reflection on social innovation and co-production at the national and international levels. Additionally, the volume also considers the potential contribution of evaluation to the paths of social innovation, drawing methodological and operational guidelines that may be helpful to those seeking to practice and evaluate social innovation, such as managers and operators of public bodies and the Third Sector.
