| description | The extreme fragility of the ecosystems that support food production calls for an alternative approach to scientific research, as well as a bold analysis of the public policies needed to feed the planet, in an environment that would become hostile to agricultural production. In order to preserve the food ecosystems essential to human development, this book presents forward-looking visions and analyses based on the concept of de-coincidence, developed by philosopher François Jullien. This search for a creative meaning free from the coincidences of common sense, the “déjà-vu”, invites us to rethink the ways in which research is organized in agronomy or in the environmental field, in order to encourage initiatives that go off the beaten track. New ways of structuring research are needed, as is the ability to envisage the worst, notably by imagining extreme configurations in which food production would become impossible in a “natural” environment. In order to define innovative solutions and effective public policies, this book proposes three de-coincidental essays aimed at devising paths to prepare for the transformations to come. |
