Summary:Self-government in the skilled crafts sector is characterised by the involvement of company owners and employees. This neo-corporatist approach brings with it both advantages and legal challenges, and represents a fundamental difference to self-administration in the chambers of industry and commerce. The study shows solutions for practical problems as well as scientific questions. To this end, the basic structures of craft self-government are examined for elements of cooperation, the historical background of these regulations is illuminated and the effects of internal cooperation on various areas, such as membership relationships, financing or the performance of tasks, are analysed.
