Opis
Streszczenie:The intention of the initiators of this volume was to provide young scientists with information about the directions of research that can be carried out in a synchrotron center, to include them in the community of users of synchrotron radiation and the creators of the future of the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Center, Krakow (Poland). Making the first beamlines in NCPS SOLARIS available the users in 2018 was a landmark event for the Polish community of solid state physicists and chemists. It facilitated access to modern research methods based on this radiation to a wider group of researchers, but also created the task of proposing a scientific research program that allows full use of the unique properties of this large-scale research infrastructure, as well as creating new research lines. The book contains an introduction to the physics of synchrotron radiation, the methods of its production and the construction of its sources, as well as a collection of chapters presenting the possibilities of using this radiation as a tool in various scientific fields. The authors have made every effort to ensure that each reader can find here basic information of interest about the fields related to synchrotron radiation, and they hope that the book will prove useful for master’s and PhD students of physics, chemistry or materials science, as well as for those with no experience in the applications of synchrotron radiation but who wish to become acquainted with this topic.
