Summary:A first approach to the history of science and scientific institutions in the Region of Murcia was already approached in a publication directed by Manuel Valera Candel allusive to the wide stage between 1750 and 1936. It showed a positive evolution, slow but continued, of scientific activity in the Murcia field. The outbreak of the Civil War (1936-1975) was a strong break and the beginning of an expensive recovery process.Completing this work with a second publication, focused on the development of Murcia science during Francoism seemed therefore something forced, especially in order to understand the importance that, for the region, then took scientific research for democracy.
