description At the end of the 17th century, Spanish America was not yet in the throes of the crisis that would lead to the decadence of its Empire. This book unravels the causes and consequences of the political changes carried out by Carlos II in one of the most powerful kingdoms of his patrimony: Peru. This book shows, from a hitherto unexamined perspective, how Hispanic America was a forerunner in the reforms of the viceregal courts, which in turn reshaped the paradigm of government and interaction of the distant kingdoms. From then on, the Hispanic Monarchy shifted its interests towards America, in a reorganisation of its territories that led it not only to fight for its resilience, but also to strengthen its leading role in the international politics it had inherited from the Bourbon dynasty. Ebook available in Open Access. This publication is GPRC-labeled (Guaranteed Peer-Reviewed Content)."

2024-12-10T05:30:40Z 2024-12-10T05:30:40Z 2024-12-04T15:16:13Z 2024 book https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/95715 9789461665553 9789462704084 https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/148322 spa Avisos de Flandes open access image/jpeg image/jpeg Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/95715/1/9789461665553.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/95715/1/9789461665553.pdf Leuven University Press 10.11116/9789461665553 10.11116/9789461665553 9e472607-bec3-4b15-ba3f-f05039722389 KU Leuven 608fbdcb-bd0a-4d50-9a26-902224692f76 9789461665553 9789462704084 589 Leuven open access
