Riassunto:The aim of this study is to investigate the nature and the context of the devotional paths linked to Biblical figures in the Levant, with specific focus on the east of the Jordan River during the early Middle Ages. The discussion will examine how sacred geography was formed in the area by analyzing literary and archaeological sources. The intention is to highlight how a network of devotional spaces was put into being, and what were the selective ways of enhancing each shrine to attract pilgrimage, especially in the Crusader period. This in the Crusader and the Ayyubid/Mamluk periods.
