description The primary goal of this book is to present the career paths of female academics and doctors of science, to show gender stereotypes that still exist among scientists, and to explore the factors that have helped and hindered them in their careers. In addition the aim is to show whether any inhibitory factors had aspects that can be traced back to gender discrimination, as well as how doctors of science and/or academics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences have managed to overcome the obstacles posed by traditional gender roles. Furthermore, the book also deals with general issues relating to the role of women in society. Therefore a chapter is included which examines the equalities between women and men as fundamental human rights, and highlights the general philosophical issues of gender inequality and the origins of binary oppositions, as well as the problems of gender bias in the workplace and organisational climate. The book is addressed to both professional audiences as well as anyone wishing to have an overview of new approaches to the questions and problems mentioned above.
