Summary:This book examines the issue of the essence of legal logic, exploring different academic perspectives. There are three main approaches to teaching legal logic: one that focuses on its formal aspect, another that emphasizes deontic logic, and a third that highlights argumentation in legal discourse. The text is divided into four units. The first introduces formal logic and its relationship with law. The second explores quantificational and Aristotelian logic, emphasizing its legal applications. The third unit delves into deontic and non-formal logic, highlighting their role in interpreting norms. The fourth unit focuses on argumentation in legal logic, analyzing antiformalist perspectives. Rather than providing a single definition of legal logic, this book aims to clarify its essence and offer didactic tools for its teaching. It is based on documentary research and includes key references in the field. Additionally, the authors have established the Peruvian Institute for Research in Logic and Philosophy (IPILOF) to promote the study of this discipline.
