| description | Maintenance 4.0’s core objective is to revolutionize and improve maintenance processes, demonstrating the practical application of Industry 4.0 technologies in manufacturing. While technologies such as the Industrial Internet of Things, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Big Data Analytics, and AI are the primary drivers of Industry 4.0, it is Maintenance 4.0 that brings them to life. The literature reveals that implementing I4.0 technologies offers numerous advantages. However, it is important to note that realizing these potential maintenance benefits requires more than just overcoming the technological challenges associated with Industry 4.0 integration. It is equally crucial to address other challenges, particularly sustainability-related ones, including social, economic, and environmental challenges which must be considered to ensure sustainable manufacturing, an area significantly influenced by maintenance. This Special Issue will present the latest advances in and the development of new methods, techniques, systems, and tools dedicated to the application of Maintenance 4.0 technologies to the economic, environmental, and social challenges of sustainable manufacturing. |
