Es setzt sich mit dem zentralen Problem auseinander, dass „Kreuzzugspredigt“ eine anachronistische Kategorie ist, und entwickelt daher methodische Ansätze, um „Kreuzzugspotential“ in den vielen überlieferten Predigten des Mittelalters festzumachen.
