Descripció
Sumari:By virtue of its central location in the western Mediterranean, Sardinia constitutes a crucial region for understanding the process of neolitization and the evolution of Neolithic cultures in the northern Tyrrhenian area. In the full development of the production economy on the island, a key role is played by the Middle Neolithic B (4500-4000 cal BC) human groups, of which the most distinctive material productions are the ceramics called 'San Ciriaco'. In this paper, a new reading and definition of the 'San Ciriaco' fictile productions is proposed, based on the morphotypological, morphometric, technological, stylistic and functional analysis of ceramic complexes found at sites in central-western Sardinia and on the critical review of data available in the scientific literature. This research offers a contribution to the knowledge of the human communities that were the creators of the technical and cultural innovations that distinguished the island in the broader scenario of the Western Mediterranean during the second half of the 5th millennium cal BC.
