description The objective of this book is to analyze the Murcia Society of the 17th century, in order to explain the mobility and social reproduction of the elites arising from sedser trade. Through the silk some threads that wove a complex process that starts from the mulberry and passes through a series of phases were hilvanated: the mulberry leaf, the breeding of the silk worm, the yarn, the crooked, the dyeing and thetissue. This social construction could facilitate the configuration of a "bourgeoisie", but it will fail in its identity as a social group. The most enriched elements chose to integrate into the elite and its social, economic and cultural practices. Silk contributed to the characterization of the six hundred society as an economic and social formation that has as its fundamental principle perpetuation and social reproduction. However, in this social structure there were some possibilities of improving the condition that was dealt with in it. Social actors act to improve and guarantee their position in society, this is more important than the possession of material goods, however, wealth and social relations are essential for the individual and family struggle for honor.
