| Shrnutí: | For more than a century the management of surface waters in the Mediterranean region has been closely linked to the problem of soil erosion and environmental degradation and, in particular, to the fight against desertification. A particularly relevant indicator of the degree of erosion and environmental degradation in vertientes to reservoirs is the rhythm of clogging of its receiving vessels. This book proposes the application of two models of erosion and sediment transport to a mediterranean mediterranean semi -arid karst basin. As a pilot area of study, the Argos River Basin Vertiente has been chosen to the Argos reservoir (510 km2) (Safe Basin) for having sufficient technical data (Batimetric Studies, sediment and sedimentological reports made by CEDEX) withthose who can compare the results of these models. Work is structured in two different parts. In the first, the problem of soil erosion in semi -arid mediterranean media is analyzed in general, in which the study area is located. It refers to the main erosion processes of these areas, the evaluation of soil losses and sedimentation of reservoirs as a specific degradation indicator at the basin level. In the second part there is a methodology for the evaluation of water erosion in the Vertiente of the Argos reservoir (Segura Basin), based on the application of empirical equations and hydrological and physical base models. After obtaining the potential erosion rates and specific degradation of the basin from the Equations of Dendy-Bolton, Fleming and Fournier, an evaluation of sediment contributions to the Argos reservoir is carried out, through the geowepp and arcswat erosion models, finally establishing a comparison with the results obtained by other authors. |
