| Shrnutí: | A first approach to the history of science and scientific institutions in the Region of Murcia was already addressed in a publication directed by Manuel Valera Candel alluding to the broad period between 1750 and 1936. It revealed a positive, slow but continuous evolution of scientific activity in the Murcian area. The outbreak of the civil war (1936-1975) meant a strong pause and the beginning of a costly recovery process. Completing this work with a second publication, focused on the development of Murcian science during Franco's regime, therefore seemed to be something obligatory, especially in order to understand the importance that scientific research later took on for the Region for democracy. |
