| Summary: | I welcome the publication of the book "Working Conditions in Social Work: Realities and Challenges in the Cauca Valley," which expresses a rigorous response, based on research and knowledge production, to the historical needs of the profession in the face of the social processes that define its development. It is impossible to confront the ethical-political and technical-operational dilemmas of professional practice in its daily practice without a clear theoretical-methodological conception that clarifies the confusing and chaotic manifestations of the social question and guides professional intervention strategies. That is why I want to highlight the importance of this book, which demonstrates a collective effort by colleagues concerned with explaining the real implications of practicing a profession such as Social Work. This book demystifies and lifts away the romanticizing veils that make reasoned and critical action impossible in Colombian reality. It overcomes endogenous visions of professional development. It thus provides input for the debate on its paths within the framework of a neoliberal society project that creates an unfavorable context for professional practice, both in terms of its socio-laboral integration and in its conception of social policy; one that is increasingly removed from the guarantee and achievement of rights. |
