Sammanfattning:Since 2018, the arrival of Central American migrant caravans to the Chiapas border region has changed the traditional way of understanding the migratory flow. To date, and as a result of containment policies, these massive caravans have abruptly stopped. However, gradual and silent caravans continue to be observed, shaping the daily and cultural life of the border territory. The massive presence of Central Americans, Africans, and currently Haitians has provoked a series of xenophobic and racist behaviors that have their genesis in the collective imaginaries that are being constructed in response to the violent disruption of the daily life of local communities.
