| Summary: | Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases represent a public health risk given the high impact on morbi-mortality.Objective: To identify the cardiovascular risk and to make an intervention in the inmates of the Fundación Viva la Vida.Methodology: Cardiovascular risk was identified by means of a cardiovascular survey, taking of vital signs, anthropometric measurements, and awareness was raised on the promotion of healthy lifestyles, as an intervention in cardiovascular risk, in interns of the Vivir la Vida Foundation in the village of Cascajal, Cali.Results: Twenty-six men were evaluated, with an age range between 16 and 60 years, four with cardiovascular risk due to waist circumference and 15 with BMI over 25 kg/m2. In personal history, one person with diabetes, two with arterial hypertension, two with previous high glycemia, 10 smoked and only 12 consumed vegetables on a daily basis. Thirteen people had a family history of diabetes.Conclusion: This population, due to its sociodemographic characteristics and the cardiovascular risk identified, would benefit from the implementation of a surveillance program. |
