Descripció
Sumari:This paper shows the results of ethnographic research on the impact of friendship relationships on the psychological well-being of older adults. It was based on the systematization of the experience of psychosocial intervention to groups of the elderly in the city of Cali prior to and during the health emergency due to covid-19 in the form of tele psychology. The research looked in depth at how friendship represented a form of social support in members of older age groups, and how it protected them from the high levels of stress they may have perceived when they were the first to receive the social isolation order. The documentary inputs that reported the process were categorized and after that an interpretative phase of the aspects that influence or determine the friendship processes in the participating older adults was proposed. The categories were constructed in a deductive way from the review of the documentary inputs of the intervention (observations, interviews, focus groups, management reports) and the theoretical references. In the processing of information, we employ a triangulation strategy. The results show that the manifestations of friendship do operate as social support, which is why it occupied a protective role in the mental health of the elderly in the preventive isolation by covid-19.
