Published Fragen der Staatenanerkennung stehen im Zentrum vieler internationaler Konflikte. De-Facto-Regime wie Nordzypern und Transnistrien stellen die internationale Gemeinschaft dabei vor Herausforderungen, die bisher vor allem rechtswissenschaftlich beleuchtet wurden. Doch sowohl in theoretischer als auch in praktischer Hinsicht spielen neben rechtlichen auch moralische Erwägungen eine entscheidende Rolle für die Bewertung solcher Konflikte. Wann sind Staatsgründungen legitim? Welche moralischen Standards gelten für die Anerkennung von Staaten? Und wie sollte die Staatengemeinschaft auf historisches Unrecht reagieren? Die Arbeit greift diese Fragen auf und ordnet die bisher noch wenig rezipierte philosophische Diskussion zur Staatenanerkennung ein.
