This discipline is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of our feet, as they are a vital part of our body and allow us to move around and carry out our daily activities. Due to the invasive procedures involved, it is essential to have a perfect knowledge of the anatomy, histology and healing of the tissues involved in order to reduce the risk of poor surgical results.
In this book, the basic concepts of podiatric surgery will be covered, including the knowledge and basic surgical techniques that will be used to treat conditions such as hallux abductus valgus, claw toes, neuromas, cysts, onychocryptosis... This basic knowledge covers clinical history, informed consent, preoperative analysis, surgical instruments, surgical incision, sutures and anaesthesia, as well as knowledge of skin healing and bone healing.
Postoperative care and rehabilitation necessary to ensure a successful recovery and a good quality of life for the operated patient will also be discussed.
This book is a valuable guide for podiatry undergraduate students who wish to start on the path of learning surgery, and who are interested in learning more about the basic techniques used in podiatric surgery and how to treat different foot and ankle conditions effectively.
