| Summary: | In this book, the author focuses on the exploitation of reindeer in France during the last cold period of the Palaeolithic (30000-15000 cal BP). She demonstrates that the economy of animal resources was based on the exploitation of a non-migratory reindeer and on a low-risk hunting strategy, which did not vary significantly over 15,000 years. She defends the hypothesis that human groups were less mobile than previously thought, at least in the great Southwest, due to the reduced mobility of the reindeer and a particular environment. Finally, it proposes a reconstruction of the annual cycle of nomadism of the groups of the Massif Central and discusses its particularity. |
