Резюме:The Zoological Garden is an object of Buenos Aires’ culture that establishes relationships between citizens and the animal world, combining scientific discourses, narratives, and representations of urban life itself in a context that is at times exotic. It is a communicative space that forms part of the repertoire of urban elements dedicated to nature within the city. Its layout, buildings, and illustrated guides have shaped the site’s educational purpose. From a perspective of visibility and bodily experience, the zoo emphasizes both concentration and distraction. Its animals have been exhibited for utilitarian and educational purposes, as well as for recreation. Marina Vasta’s research offers us an excursion both into and out of this institution through a journey across its history, encompassing both the physical and intangible dimensions that turned it into a microcosm representative of nature in the city.
