| Sumario: | The content of this textbook enables to perform numerical simulations based on the finite element method (FEM). The textbook includes examples of analysis for modeling composite structures. Particular attention has been focused on the issue of strength of thin-walled structures made of composite materials, under static as well as dynamic loading conditions. Within the framework of the developed numerical models, composite material failure models such as progressive failure analysis (PFA model) and cohesive zone model (CZM model) were used. Issues in which the first of the above-mentioned failure models was used enable assessment of structural failure due to damage to the fibers or matrix of the composite material. The examples in which the second failure model was included allow the assessment of structural failure due to delamination. The textbook includes four main comprehensively described issues presenting numerical simulations from the modeling of composite structures, as well as two additional examples of issues presented in a simplified form. In addition, it is possible to analyze the issues presented in the textbook based on other advanced models of composite material failure (including the XFEM or LaRC05 model). |
