| Summary: | This volume explores the sinister connections between religion; gender and the body in the abuse of adult women in the Catholic Church. The author investigates cases of abuse committed by the founder of the St. Franziskusschwestern Vierzehnheiligen against members of the ne xommunity; among others; at the end of the 19th century. Miranda Fricker's concept of “epistemic injustice” is an important hermeneutical key to exploring the possibilities and limits of talking about abuse. The book analyzes how the (suppressed) knowledge about the incidents shaped the community right up to the present day and which factors prevented the incidents from being addressed. |
