W poszczególnych jego rozdziałach omówiono istotę i funkcjonowanie rynku finansowego, opisano jego strukturę i instrumenty, będące przedmiotem transakcji w poszczególnych jego segmentach, tj. na rynku pieniężnym, kapitałowym, terminowym i walutowym. Opisano także istotę i historię giełd papierów wartościowych oraz przybliżono praktyczne aspekty związane z funkcjonowaniem Giełdy Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie.
