| Riassunto: | 871 / 5,000 The ninth volume of the Short Writings of the Zurich Greek and religious scholar Walter Burkert (1931–2015) follows the thematic structure of the first eight volumes of his opuscula, which were edited between 2001 and 2011 by postdoctoral students of this seminal scholar, who worked at the University of Zurich from 1969 to 1996. The volume fills gaps and supplements the publications he published in the individual fields during his final years. Furthermore, his remarkable academic debut, the typewritten Erlangen dissertation "On the Ancient Greek Concept of Compassion," is made accessible to a wider audience for the first time. In addition to the editor's foreword, the volume also includes an appreciation by Jan N. Bremmer, the Dutch religious scholar and friend of Walter Burkert. |
