This book examines the role of Nazi military jurisdiction in Vienna, its actors, and its victims. The book uses the bank building on Hohenstaufengasse, which was used as a military court during the Nazi era, as a starting point to examine the work of Wehrmacht justice in Vienna from various perspectives. Through the first-ever evaluation of all proceedings of the Field Military Court of Division No. 177, which had a branch on Hohenstaufengasse, both the specific number of victims and the work of the Wehrmacht judges are presented in detail. The articles provide insights into the fates of the victims, the functioning of the military court bureaucracy, and its interaction with the Nazi persecution institutions that established themselves in Vienna after the Anschluss.
