| description | Although historic neighborhood buildings can be preserved on a small scale, it remains important to carry out urban planning and sustainable urban renewal. Represented by the Siheyuan in Beijing, the buildings in Roji of Tokyo, and the Avenue in Switzerland, historic neighborhood buildings are widely regarded as what embodies urban development, life traces, and the cultural spirit of individual cities. The tangible parts of buildings are the focus of conserving urban historical neighborhood buildings, involving such elements as conservation technologies and material studies. In spite of this, it can also be carried out invisibly. In this case, the priority is given to the culture, identity, memory, and daily life behind urban renewal, as they serve as the historical carrier of urban life. Its conservation is also closely related to the planning policies and management models of urban renewal and building conservation. With the support of advanced digital technology, more effective solutions are provided for the renewal of historical neighborhood buildings. In this book, the topic is discussed across the following four sub-themes: (1) measuring the emotions and perceptions regarding urban heritage conservation; (2) urban conservation, renewal management, and public space; (3) digital technology in the practice of urban heritage conservation; and (4) constructing a value system for historical conservation. |
