Descripció
Sumari:Rondas Campesinas in Peru: Reflections from the Province of Huancabamba offers a provocative and unique analysis of the Rondas Campesinas in the Andean, Indigenous, and peasant region of Piura, focusing on their social and ideological formation, as well as their cultural and political identity. The author explores the construction of Indigenous thought in relation to native practices, highlighting how these communities—especially in Huancabamba—have been and continue to be key actors in the resistance and defense of their territories and local knowledge. Through an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses sociology, social anthropology, geography, and philosophy, the work examines the interactions between the Rondas Campesinas and dominant ideologies, proposing a critical reflection on the social, political, and cultural history of Andean communities. In addition to expanding knowledge about the Rondas Campesinas, this study challenges conventional interpretations of Andean and Indigenous identity in the face of coloniality/modernity and territorial struggles in Latin America. Ultimately, the book does not present itself as a regionalist text, but rather as a dialogue for the Global South and for those who defend their territories and cultural forms in the face of dominant oppression.
