| Crynodeb: | Writing this review book on current research topics, without presenting results but rather the background of the research process, has allowed us to provide an extensive account of the theoretical foundations from which new basic research and the rationale for clinical research are generated. This book has been written by researchers who have compiled information throughout their research careers and who have seen how knowledge has evolved thanks to the application of molecular biology as a tool in the study of infectious diseases.
Each chapter of the book contains comprehensive information on the current state of knowledge on each of the topics covered; the common theme is the molecular biomarkers of three infectious agents of medical importance: Plasmodium spp., Trypanosoma spp., and Salmonella spp., causative agents of infectious diseases with high prevalence worldwide; the complications that arise from them, such as sepsis and multiple organ failure, are important causes of morbidity and mortality in affected individuals. |
