| الملخص: | The more than century-old Memoirs of a Sacromonte Schoolboy, written in 1917 by José María Caparrós Lorencio (1876-1935), a former student who had been ─in the last years of the 19th century─ under the learned tutelage of the College -Seminar of Theologians and Jurists of San Dionisio Areopagita, founded in the flourishing Granada of the early 17th century. As highlighted in a review at the time of its original publication, "for readers eager to learn about the history of national education, they are very instructive because they show, in vivid pictures, a surviving example of ancient educational institutions, and for the artist searching for typical scenes, they are of real interest due to the uniqueness of some of the subjects painted in rich colours by the passionate disciple of the institution that shaped his spirit in his early youth" , a highly authoritative testimony thus, of its pedagogical regime, as well as that of the life of the schoolchildren, as authentic as it is representative of one of those shifts in liberal educational policy which, invoking freedom of education, opted, albeit hesitantly, for greater leeway in the coexistence of non-public educational centres and in the recognition of the studies undertaken in them. |
