Part I of this volume, “Chinese History under a New Historical Perspective,” questions inherited historiographical assumptions, using fresh angles, diverse sources, and modern research to reinterpret the past and present a fuller social portrait. Arguing that China is part of the world and cannot be studied in isolation, Part II, “Chinese History in a Global Perspective,” places China within global history—examining relations, interactions, and influences between China, its neighbors, the West, and the world—inviting readers to journey widely through the expanse of Chinese history. |
