| Summary: | To embark on the history of 22 municipalities over 15 centuries is an odyssey worthy of the chronicles of the best pen of the realm. We set up to do it led by the firm conviction that, for the first time, the history of this region should be approached from a continuous perspective, in a physical and temporal sense.
On the one hand, Coimbra and its surrounding region were the stage for several major and subsidiary events which are now integrated in a fluid historical narrative. On the other hand, the volume and diversity of the region’s built heritage amply justifies the creation of this network, so that these constructions may be perceived by visitors in a wider context, beyond the actual circumstances of the territory where they arose. |
