Summary:The manuscript collection of the Jorge de Faria Room stems from the donation of the bibliophile and theatre critic Jorge Brandão Figueiredo de Faria (1888-1960) to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra in 1960. The 1110 manuscripts presented in this catalogue are part of a collection of about 29,000 bibliographical items relating to theatre and other performing arts. They focus mainly on the theatre that was written and performed in the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century in Portugal. The catalogue is thus a reference tool for researchers of the history of theatre in Portugal, both in the field of performance and literature.
