| Sumario: | The book Gender, violence and hate online: concepts and representations maps out a set of critical issues and presents a series of qualitative studies contextually situated in the Covid-19 pandemic, uncovering the intricate relationships between online communication practices and the experiences of abuse lived on different types of digital platforms. While identifying the potential of digital technologies in overcoming sexism and structural violence against women, the volume explores evidence of digital hatred and offensive behaviour perpetrated online, involving the intentional imposition of substantial suffering and perpetuating gender inequalities. In addition to advancing knowledge on a problem that is still little studied in Portugal, the book offers important contributions so that academic research can be a comprehensive space for fighting for the realisation of justice. |
