The author of the publication clearly explains the reasons for the progressive singlization of societies and the essence of singlism and the consequences of discrimination against people living alone. He also introduces the reader to the basics of single-person households, their housing conditions, material situation or expenditure structure of people living alone, with particular emphasis on expenditure on food and health care. The monograph closes with a chapter devoted to selected new consumer trends and their purchasing behaviour, in which a successful attempt is made to identify typological groups of silver singles as consumers.
The content of the monograph and the knowledge it contains may be useful to all those who are interested in the demographic issues taking place in Polish society, and in particular in elderly single people and their consumer behaviour. |
