| Shrnutí: | The history of science and natural sciences at the University of Warsaw presented in this volume consists of eight parts covering the history of research and the most important achievements in astronomy, biological sciences, chemistry, physics, geography, mathematics, geological sciences, and medical sciences. The authors are distinguished researchers who are experts in the history of their respective fields. Each part covers the history of a given field throughout the two centuries of activity of the Warsaw university, in several cases even reaching back to the period before 1816, when Warsaw had a School of Law and a School of Medicine, which were later transformed into faculties of the Royal University of Warsaw. The collected texts also include biographical information about outstanding scholars representing the exact and natural sciences. |
