Recent efforts to ‘awaken’ the right to participate in and to enjoy the benefits of scientific progress and its applications, also known as the ‘human right to science’, have largely failed to engage with international cooperation. This is regrettable as international scientific cooperation is not only a core element of and prerequisite for the right’s full realisation, but also a key concern in many other regimes of international law. In this book, leading experts explore the grounds, the subjects, the objects, and the contents of the duty and responsibility of international cooperation under the human right to science. |
