| Summary: | Thinking about indigenous politics is not only an important topic but also a necessary one for International Relations. On the one hand, indigenous peoples are increasingly present on the international stage. On the other hand, their actions do not necessarily translate into recognition in the day-to-day workings of international politics. Even in the theoretical field, the recognition of these peoples has only recently been incorporated into the discipline, whose very notion of politics and its practice has traditionally been centered on the nation-state and international organizations. This book seeks to challenge these conservative understandings. The chapters that constitute it are guided by the premise that indigenous peoples are political actors par excellence, and their actions offer possibilities for the construction of an Other world. Thus, the reflections outlined in this book point to a questioning of the political subject and the constitutive fractures of the international, exposing the limits and possibilities for change in the discipline. |
