| Zusammenfassung: | Rice brown spot is caused by the fungus Bipolaris oryzae and affects all rice (Oryza sativa L.) producers. The general objective of the present research work was to evaluate different doses of silicon for the control of brown spot in rice and its effects on different agronomic variables. The present research was carried out at the "La María" campus, Quevedo State Technical University, located at Km 7.5 Via Quevedo - El Empalme. A completely randomized block design with 7 treatments and 3 replications was used. All treatments received the same NPK dose (93 - 17 - 108 kg ha-1). The silicon used in the research was SIO-DEM+ (85% SiO2). The treatments applied were a control (use of fungicide), and 5 doses of silicon (188, 282, 376, 470 and 564 kg ha-1). The dose of 564 kg silicon ha-1 was superior for height and 1,000 kernel weight. The dose of 282 kg silicon ha-1 is recommended due to its disease control similar to the rest of the treatments and having a 5% higher profitability compared to the control. |
