| Riassunto: | The book From Challenge to Opportunity: The Digital Divide and Training in Social Work offers an in-depth explanation of how inequalities in access to and use of ICT translate into concrete differences in academic performance within a distance-learning Social Work program. Based on the monitoring of interactions between nearly four hundred students and their instructors on the virtual campus, the study combines data mining, factor analysis, and cluster analysis to profile different levels of digital divide and link them to learning outcomes.
The work demonstrates that merely “having Internet access” is not enough: what matters is how it is used, the extent of interaction with content, instructors, and peers, and how well-prepared faculty members are to teach in digital environments. Its findings provide empirical criteria for designing policies on digital literacy and continuous training in digital competencies, as well as for developing more inclusive pedagogical strategies.
Aimed at academics, virtual program administrators, and Social Work professionals, this book offers an updated and rigorous examination of the challenges of distance education in the post- pandemic context and proposes concrete approaches to narrowing the digital divide within higher education. |
