Summary:This study examines the impact of scientific works on software in Ecuador, highlighting their relevance for socioeconomic and scientific progress. The methodology, based on four milestones, used bibliometric methods and content analysis. The articles, collected from Scopus and Web of Science, ensured the relevance and accuracy of the information. Tools such as RStudio, VOSviewer and Python were used for data processing. From 2014 to 2023, scientific production in Ecuador has grown significantly, with an average annual increase of 58.33%. This reflects a greater research capacity and allocation of resources towards science and technology. Ecuador has had a notable impact on citations, especially in software, with 469 citations (26.80% of the total), demonstrating the relevance of its research. The study shows a healthy balance between national and international collaborations, with a collaboration index of 0.517, strengthening scientific capacity. Educational institutions are fundamental for the scientific and technological development of the country, and strengthening them is key to maintaining Ecuador's scientific competitiveness. Avenues for future research and public policies that promote the strategic role of software in national advancement are suggested.
