Description
Summary:The XI Encontro EDICIC Ibérico, entitled "Training and Research in Information Science: Opportunities and Challenges," held between November 10th and 12th, 2025 at the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP), Polytechnic of Porto, was part of the consolidated tradition of scientific meetings promoted by EDICIC and dedicated to promoting development, critical reflection, and interdisciplinary dialogue in the field of Information Science, both in the Iberian context and in the Ibero-American space. Organized under the auspices of the Association for Education and Research in Information Science of Ibero-America and the Caribbean (EDICIC), the meeting constituted an academic forum of excellence, bringing together professors, researchers, students, and professionals from Portugal, Spain, and various Latin American countries. The scientific program promoted the exchange of knowledge, the dissemination of research results, and the critical discussion of emerging themes that shape the field of Information Science. The thematic axes — Ethics and Deontology, Information and Knowledge Management, Impact of Information and Communication Technologies, Epistemological Perspectives and Trends in Training and Education in Information Science — reflected the diversity and complexity of contemporary challenges in the field, highlighting the plurality of approaches present in the scientific community. The organization of the meeting took place within the scope of the Bachelor's Degree in Documentation and Information Sciences and Technologies (CTDI), offered at ISCAP, reinforcing the commitment of this study cycle to the articulation between teaching, research and professional practice, as well as to the promotion of scientific initiatives that contribute to the consolidation of the academic community in the area. The XI Encontro EDICIC Ibérico reaffirmed the value of interinstitutional collaboration between Iberian countries, enriched by contributions from Latin America, which broadened the debate and fostered critical reflection on educational, professional and investigative practices. Oral presentations, plenary sessions, and roundtables provided opportunities for in-depth scientific exploration that contributed to the conceptual and methodological renewal of the discipline. This volume of proceedings brings together the contributions resulting from this edition, preserving the scientific memory of the meeting and reinforcing the role of EDICIC as a space of reference and cooperation in the Iberian and Ibero-American landscape of Information Science.
