| Gaia: | This document is the result of a research process with a mixed approach, which aims to determine the effect of the pandemic on microcredit in Banks and Savings and Credit Cooperatives, the Ecuadorian financial system consists mainly of
three major segments: public and private banks, regulated by the Superintendence of Banks; and Savings and Credit Cooperatives, supervised by the Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy, covered by the Constitution of the Republic in Articles 147, 283, 309 and 311. Microcredits seek the ability to reduce poverty by supporting microenterprises and improve the income of the population causing a strong competition and increase of the agencies of Banks and Cooperatives, therefore it will be analyzed if the microcredits had an increase and reduction during and after the pandemic through the pages of the Superintendency of Banks, Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy and Asobanca. The objective of this article is to analyze the microcredit portfolio during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, analyzing the degree of affectation or increase in the Credit and Savings Cooperatives and Banks, using Asobanca, the Superintendency of Banks and the Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy as a reference. A mixed research approach was applied due to the analysis of the factors associated with the health crisis and its impact on Ecuadorian society. The main results mentioned the impact of the health crisis and how it affected the microcredit portfolio of the Banks and Cooperatives and the policies that were implemented to dynamize the economy and minimize its impact. According to the research carried out, it is concluded
that the main incidences suffered by the Banks and Cooperatives because of the crisis were a progressive increase in the level of risk with respect to their credit portfolios, especially the microcredit portfolio, which with the policies applied was
a measure that helped to increase the monetary value. |
